AAC Executive Director co-host UN International Day of Peace

21 September 2021, AAC Executive Director and Assistant to the Vice President of Universal Peace Federation Australia Will Abdo, co-hosted for the second time the United Nations International Day of Peace Conference held on the 18 September, 2021.

The virtual conference was organised by UPFA with this year’s UN Day of Peace theme of “Recovering better for an equitable and sustainable world”, covering some of the issues of pressing concern to the United Nations which includes Covid-19 recovery efforts, worldwide cease-fire, climate change and a green sustainable global economy.

In 2021, the United Nations is emphasising the need for humanity to make peace with each other, think better and work together in confronting the pandemic as a common enemy to humankind.  

Numerous topics were presented by a panel of highly distinguished speakers including Indian Council of Gandhian Studies Chairman Professor N. Radhakrishnan and Molly Harriss Olson, CEO of Fairtrade Australia & New Zealand.  It was attended by over 70 people including UPF Ambassadors For Peace, community and business leaders and other notable personalities.

Abdo subsequently attended to an interview with SBS Arabic Radio shedding light on the UN Day of Peace theme and the conference in general.
